WebMay 25, 2010 · Anyone find a way of disabling scientific notation in Excel. Excel treats text, which "look" like scientific notation as such. For example "5E12". There are work arounds of adding a single quote and remembering to input as "text". Sure would be nice to just be able to turn it off in a particular workbook. This thread is locked. WebSelect the range of cells where you need to avoid using the scientific notation. Right-click on your selection and select Format Cells. In the dialog box, go to the Number group in the Number tab and change the decimal places to zero. This way you can prevent Excel from converting numbers to automatic scientific notation.
